MEETINGS: Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30 pm
FACILITATOR: Ron Parker (839-5314)
Our Meditation Group has been meeting at Pilgrim-St. Luke's since 1998. It is unique in that it offers both learning and support. We learn to use the 8 principles cited in "Your Life Is Your Message," by Eknath Easwaran, one of the classic texts on the topic of meditation. The principles include learning how to put the welfare of others first, slowing down, reducing stress, achieving spiritual companionship, and engaging in meaningful action.
All members are equally encouraged to explore on their own and share new methods they have found. It is exciting to learn from new ideas and ways of meditating brought in by our group members from outside sources as well.
The author of this particular book encourages us to see ourselves as capable of being more caring, more focused, more faithful to our highest ideals, and he offers a practical method for making one's life a message of hope, love, and purpose.
The book radiates with Easwaren's warm humor, lyrical eloquence, and the wisdom gained through a lifetime.
Sharing and Support:
In addition to learning to meditate, the group also evaluates the impact of this activity on our personal lives. There is never pressure to share, but most find this kind of support to be more meaningful, going one step more than being just a meditation class. It is the support which keeps us motivated and inspired to fulfill our own potentials and goals.
