Peace Camp
Peace Camp is a wonderful opportunity for children, by which they can truly learn about and explore the world as a "follower of Jesus." Peace Camp starts each morning at 9:30 am. and runs until noon, and it is free for children ages 5-12. Breakfast for the children is included, as well as a morning snack. The lesson learning and various activities throughout the week of Peace Camp are devoted to helping children see the world they live in as a place that is filled with joy, harmony, wonder, love, and peace. They also help children develop the knowledge and ability to bring and build these qualities into their own lives and the lives of those around them. During the week of Peace Camp children are involved in projects and activities that help them fully investigate and discover what a world filled with peace really means to them. Children may be baking loaves of bread that represent the holy bread of life, or creating and building a wall mosaic that illustrates peace around the world. They might design ornamental crafts to help beautify the world and remind us that peace is possible, or they might write and act in a play that sets the stage for bringing more peace closer to friends and family in our neighborhoods. The week is filled with stories, songs, drama, activities, and fun as children learn about living in a world of peace!
**********
Last summer, Peace Camp was held from August 20-24, 2012. The theme for the week was: "Peace by Piece." After hearing the Biblical Story of Creation, through songs, games, art, drama, and and other activities, children explored various ways to help protect and renew the Earth. Especially they learned to Recycle, Reduce and Reuse!
